Romania clearly superior at 19:5 against Kazakhstan

Romania has won the top game in group A at the World Aquatics Water Polo World
Cup in Berlin against Kazakhstan (KAZ) 19:5 (6:2, 6:1, 2:2, 5:0) and thus moved into
an excellent position in the battle for tickets to the Super Final in the USA. “We
came to Berlin to win all the games,” said Levente Vanscik (ROM), player of the
game, in an unmistakable statement about his team’s great ambitions.

Both teams had previously won their first games of the day, but there was a clear
difference in performance from the start of this game. Tudor-Andrei Fulea opened
the scoring for the Romanians, who were soon up 6-2 after the first quarter. “We
wanted to go full throttle here right from the start,” explained Vanscik. After that,
the game remained a one-sided affair. At half-time, the East Europeans had a nine-
goal lead (12:3). Fulea alone scored three times in the second quarter and really got
going after the top scorer of last year’s European Championships in Split (CRO)
failed to achieve a sense of achievement in the first game against Iran.
Kazakhstan managed to level the game in the third quarter, but Romania
dominated again in the last quarter and won it 5-0. In the end, the Romanian team
just missed the 20-goal mark. The top scorers of the game were Fulea with four
goals, followed by Vanscik and Andrei Neamtu (all ROM) with three goals each.
